What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy involves the rubbing and kneading of soft tissues and muscles in the human body. This is to promote healing and enhance a person's health and well-being.

It is thought the term 'massage' originates from the Greek word, 'Massein' meaning 'to knead'. It is also linked to the Arabic word, 'mash' which means to 'press softly'. Both aptly describe the treatment, which is now used in healthcare, beauty therapy and sports.

There are more than 250 variations of massage and bodywork therapies used today. Despite the differences between each modality, all of them involve touch and manipulation techniques to move muscles and body tissue. The aim is to relieve stress, tension, pain and a whole host of other ailments.

Head Massage

Indian head massage adapts classic Swedish massage techniques for treating scalp, face, neck, shoulders and upper arms.

It works on the areas of the body that are most affected by stress, however while the treatment is just on the upper part of the body it's effects are felt throughout the mind and body.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy, also referred to as Essential Oil therapy, can be defined as the art and science of utilising naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonise and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.

These beautiful essential oils are combined with a upper body and back massage to create a uniquely tailored relaxation experience.

Benefits of aromatherapy include its ability to reduce anxiety, ease depression, boost energy levels, speed up the healing process, eliminate headaches, boost cognitive performance, induce sleep, strengthen the immune system, reduce pain, improve digestion, and increase circulation

Full Body Massage

A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders.

The treatment combines a variety of massage techniques including effluerage, petrissage, friction and tapotement.

A great way to relax, unwind and pamper the soul.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that pressure points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.

The affects of reflexology can be felt throughout the entire body.

Some of the benefits of reflexology include its ability to increases energy, boosts circulation, and eliminates toxins from the body.

Facial
Crystal Therapy

Give your skin a break from the aggression of the sun, urban life and pollution, with a regular facial treatment.

The treatment begins with a deep cleansing of the skin to get rid of the toxins, followed by exfoliation to strip away dead cells, then a mask specific to your skin and treatment, finally a gentle face massage to stimulate the blood flow and cream hydratation to nourish your skin.

Treatments are also available for individuals with sensitive skin.

Crystal healing is a holistic and natural therapy that taps into the energetic power of crystals and how they affect the body and mind. Crystal healing is an energy-based system. The premise is that crystals help unblock, balance and direct energy where it is most needed, gently supporting the body to heal in a therapeutic way.

Reiki Healing

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique based on energy healing. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a "universal energy" is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing
